        Kubota Beisen (1852 – 1906)


Beisen was the only son of a Kyoto restaurant family. At the age of 16 he joined the school of Suzuki Hyakunen. Travelling several times to Europe and Amerika. In 1899 his eyesight badly reclined and the next year he lost all his sight. Together with Kono Bairei and Imao Keinen the best gachoga painters of the Meiji-period.
